About Us - Johnson Tractor

Our Story

Johnson Tractor was born in 1980 in Darien, WI. The business was formed when Ray Johnson and his son, Leo bought the former Clinton Implement from partner Bruce Lucas. Bruce and Ray had run Clinton Implement and Hatchery from 1953 until 1980 as an International Harvester dealership…..and for a short time a chicken hatchery! Clinton Implement’s history dates back to pre-World War II with original owners Burdette Rogers and Foss Winniger.

As with many International Harvester dealerships in the mid ‘80s, a life changing event happened with the Johnsons when JI Case bought International Harvester in 1984. The end result was the sale of the Darien, WI facility to a trucking company and the purchase of the Case IH company store at Janesville, WI.

Leo and Eric owned and operated Johnson Tractor until Leo’s retirement in 2021. Today, Eric Reuterskiold operates 9 Case IH, New Holland and Kubota dealerships in Wisconsin and northern Illinois along with Eric Johnson, Kathryn Hesebeck, Eric Johnson’s Daughter, Patrick Johnson, Leo Johnson’s son, and Sue Johnson. Johnson Tractor employees over 200 employees and serves 40 counties.
